1961, December 15 - Gift of Beatrice Greenough
The Greenough Estate Collection, including 25 cartons of books and over thirty prints and drawings, was given to the Redwood Library on December 15, 1961 by Beatrice Goelet Greenough (1908-1984) soon after the death of her only child, Gabrielle Ladd (1936-1960). Beatrice was the daughter of William Greenough (1874-1949) and Charlotte Warren (1885-1954) who collected most of the artwork herself. Charlotte was assisted by her father, Whitney Warren, who had donated a scrapbook of his architectural drawings to the Redwood Library.
Beatrice Greenough of Prescott Farm, a Portsmouth, RI resident for many years, died 24 April,1984. She left an uncle, Whitney Warren of San Francisco and two cousins, Michael Lloyd Reeves of Newport and Reginald Reeves of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.

|Notes||Probably part of a series "Galeries historiques de Versailles" published in Paris circa 1837-1845 by Charles Gavard (b. 1794). Possibly 13 volumes, of 11 series. Series 10 is titled: "Portraits divers" or just "Portraits". The size range is 23 cm - 61 cm with one listing as 32 x 46 cm. (information from OCLC) [not listed on original inventory].|
