Portrait. Subject is an adult male, waist-length view, facing forward, head turned slightly to the left. His right arm rests at his side while his left is raised with the elbow resting on a pedestal or possibly a window sill. He has grey hair, slightly wavy and parted on the right. Subject is in Victorian dress with a black jacket, black vest, and white shirt with a high stand linen collar eighteenth century style collar with a black cravat tied into a bow. The background is brown and darker along the top portion of the painting. There is a maroon curtain, cinched in the middle, hanging beside the subject to his left. |
