ULAN ID: 500093488 Nehemiah Partridge (1683-1737), a native of New Hampshire, was active in New York City 1717-18. He advertised in Boston as a japanner and paint seller and later as proprieter of "The Italian Matchean, or moving picture" which may have been a mechanical toy. He was admitted a freeman (i.e. property owner and voter) of New York City on 22 April 1718 and painted portraits in Newport 1720-22. (Groce and Wallace 489) |
