Ebenezer Flagg (1710-1762), born in Boston, settled in Newport and married Governor Ward's daughter, Mary (subject of painting #151) 8 February 1741. He was a descendant of the Flagg family of England which has been traced back to 1440. Flagg became a partner of Henry Collins (subject of Redwood's paintings #149 and 150) with whom he built a successful cordage business. (Annals 48) |
