Description |
Charles Goodwin Ridgley (1784-1847) commanded the Brig Jefferson and the sloops-of-war Erie and Independence (1815-1817), as well as the West Indian Squadron (1827-1830). He was also in charge of the Brooklyn Naval Yard (1832-1839). A bust portrait, turned half-way to the right, with his dark eyes directed to the spectator. His curly hair and side-whiskers are very dark. He wears a naval uniform of dark blue coat, gold braid and epaulets, a white standing collar and black neckcloth. The plain background is of dark neutral tones. (Park 2:646-7) |
